Sharp shares its Eco-Positive strategy and showcases its Energy-Creating and Energy-Saving products.

Dubai, 21.03.2010

Sharp Middle East FZE. was invited to join the “Voice of Business” dialogue hosted by the Lootah Technical Centre, to showcase Sharp’s vision for an eco-positive future and present Sharp’s one-of-a-kind Energy Creating and Energy Saving products.

Sharp Middle East FZE (SMEF), the fully owned regional subsidiary of Sharp Corporation Japan, along with the Lootah Technical Centre (LTC), a competency based education and training centre and part of the S.S. Lootah Group hosted the “Voice of Business” seminar. The event saw international experts in the field of clean and sustainable energy addressing the impact of climate change and exploring new business opportunities to promote the use of technology to abate the effects of global warming.

Amongst guest speakers at the event was SMEF’s GM Mr. Mamoru Takatsuka, addressing the audience about Sharp’s vision for the future and sharing best practices adopted by Sharp to ensure a low carbon society through its business practices. Mr. Takatsuka, speaking on both days of the two day event, presented Sharp’s Eco-Positive Strategy which can help reduce the effects of its global business operations on the environment on the first day. On day two he spoke about Sharp’s Energy-Creating and Energy-Saving products which offer tangible solutions to environmental challenges faced today.

“The world has known about these problems we face for a long while, however not much action has been taken on rendering a solution to them”, said Mr. Takatsuka. “We believe the time for action has come and while larger solutions are taking time to be implemented, everyone of us can use our own initiative and adapt energy-creating and energy-saving products into our lives to reverse the negative impact our past choices have made on the world”, Takatsuka continued. Other speakers at the event included eminent experts from the field of Automation Technologies, Eco-friendly transport, Environmental services and Carbon Abatement Technologies.

The audience included senior business executives from the public & private sectors, as well as representatives from government entities. Mr. Abdulmunam M. Lootah, CEO - LTC commented, “The seminar aimed to serve as a platform for knowledge exchange and opinion sharing between government, business and investors to explore business solutions towards global climate change including the best available science and technology to meet the carbon emission reduction targets.”

Growing interest in the field of environmentally responsible business practices has long been the missing link towards making tangible changes in the way we go about our lives and run businesses. The Voice of Business seminar is not the first of its kind dialogue hosted by LTC along with Sharp. It is certainly not the last of such dialogues either, as it marks the beginning of sharing a common ecological concern and working with strategic partners towards the common goal of making the future more Eco-Positive.
