Sharp Middle East FZE (SMEF) was present at the World Future Energy Summit 2010 show held in Abu Dhabi - UAE, which began on the 18th and ended on the 21st of January 2010. The show which was attended by more than 23,000 attendees from 130 countries saw a 25 percent increase in footfall and a doubling of the number of countries exhibiting as compared to 2009.
After the Copenhagen Summit held in 2009, the WFES seemed to complement the discussions which were left open. The WFES conference ended on a high note with a categorical assertion that renewable energy is no longer the energy of the future, 'but it has already arrived', and it can make a significant contribution in mitigating the grave threats that our precious planet faces due to the climate change.
At the WFES exhibition which was run adjunct with the conference, Sharp presented its vision of becoming an Eco-Positive Company which makes energy-creating solutions and energy-saving products. This was very well accepted by the visitors who were expecting to see Sharp at the event. With the setup of IRENA in UAE's capital Abu Dhabi, the world's attention has shifted towards the region especially since the Masdar project has gotten underway.
"Sharp is a leading partner for renewable energy solutions the world over and will continue to shape the future of Solar and renewable energy in the region", said Grant Crawford, the Sales Director for Sharp's Business Solutions and Solar business in the Middle East and Africa region. "Our focus is on providing solar solutions which not only cater to your renewable energy ambitions, but also reduce your carbon footprint at the same time", added Grant.
Sharp solar panels, which come in varying configurations suitable to a wide variety of customer needs, are produced out of Sharp's world leading super-green factories which themselves use solar energy for the production of these panels. Making the panels more carbon efficient, compared to any other in the world. "We know the footprint of our panels, and can help the market offset their project carbon footprint by using our panels" comments Matthew Silvester, the Business Development Manager for Sharp's Solar business.
The event saw tremendous interest from the Gulf region, as well as from African countries. "The visitors were from all over the region, making the WFES an important event to be at", continued Matthew. Growing concern for the environment is apparent in the manner that focus is shifting to renewable energy. This was reflected in the growth of visitors as well as the fact that more than 160 Solar power companies exhibited at the event.
"The growth of competition will force more innovation into Solar business. We need to improve the output efficiency of our panels and also come up with new solutions for going solar like our Thin Film solar technology", said Grant. "Sharp's commitment to development in the Solar Energy front is undeterred, and we will continue to innovate our products and solutions further. Creating 25% of the world's solar power, Sharp has the largest share in the sector, which also means that the world looks up to us for the next big thing in Solar", he added.
Sharp has developed and plans to launch in 2010 its next generation of Solar technology, which promises the highest efficiency in the world at 35%. Much higher than its current range, and certainly much higher than any other solar panels currently available.
