Energy Star is a label for energy efficient products with worldwide recognition.  The Energy Star program was created in 1992 by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and was introduced in 2002 to the European Union as a voluntary label for computers, monitors, printers, fax machines, scanners, copiers and multifunctional machines. In 2007 new  Energy Star specifications for office & imaging products were put in place, which ensure that the Energy Star represents only the market's most energy efficient productions.
